The Bower Hill Invitational – History

It all started when 6 guys headed to Canton. What year was that? Honestly I don’t remember.

Originally the BHI was the known as the BHO for Bower Hill Open but since it really isn’t open and we want to be able to uninvite any serious a-holes it has since been changed to the BHI for the Bower Hill Invitational. The BHI has been in existence since before 2002 but 2002 was the first year we had an official Green Jacket winner.

That first winner was Ross, however there is some controversy here because of a huge thunderstorm that blew threw Seven Hills so that Ross didn’t actually finish the last hole.* I seem to remember the quote of ‘oh just give me a 5’ but this might just be BHI lore. You could ask Ed his memory of the exact circumstances but I think the last time it was brought up I nearly got a 7-iron wrapped around my neck so ask at your own peril.

Since there is no record from the early years my memory may in error so anyone who remembers anything differently, let me know.

* See “Caught in the Hack” for more Ross “BHI controversies”.
